Drip Campaigns in DMLY allow you to automate a sequence of messages that are sent to contacts over time. This helps you nurture leads, onboard new users, follow up automatically, and move contacts through your customer journey with minimal manual effort.
What is a Drip Campaign?A drip campaign is a series of scheduled WhatsApp messages sent automatically based on:
A trigger (e.g., contact created, tag added)
A timing delay (e.g., after 1 day, after 2 days)
Conditions (e.g., not unsubscribed)
Each message is designed to guide the contact to the next stage — from awareness to conversion.
Drip campaigns are built using Automation Rules.
Step 1: Create Your First Drip Rule (Day 1)Go to Automations
Click Add Rule
Select Create Rule from Scratch
Example:
Rule Name: Drip Campaign – Day 1
Category: Customer Experience (or Marketing)
Choose when the campaign should begin.
Common triggers:
When a Contact is Created
When a Contact is Added to a Tag (e.g., “New Lead”)
Example:
Trigger: When Contact is Created
Conditions help filter who enters the campaign.
Examples:
Contact has tag: New Lead
Contact stage is Lead
Contact does NOT have tag: Unsubscribe
This ensures only the right contacts enter the sequence.
Select Send WhatsApp Template Message
Choose your approved template
Fill in variables (name, order details, etc.)
This becomes your Day 1 message.
Add a tracking tag to mark progress.
Example:
Add tag: Follow Up 1
This helps trigger the next step in the sequence.
Set the delay before the next message.
Example:
Wait: 1 Day
Click Save to activate your first drip rule.
Step 2: Create the Second Drip Rule (Day 2)Now you create the continuation of the sequence.
Create Rule from Scratch
Rule Name: Drip Campaign – Day 2
Trigger the rule when the previous tag is applied.
Example:
Trigger: When Contact is Added to Tag
Tag: Follow Up 1
Important condition:
Tag is NOT Unsubscribe
This ensures unsubscribed contacts are excluded automatically.
Select your Day 2 WhatsApp template
Fill required variables
Add:
Follow Up 2
Example:
Wait 2 Days
Remove:
Follow Up 1
This keeps your tag system clean and clearly tracks progress.
Repeat the process for Day 3, Day 4, and so on.
