Bulk Import Contacts (CSV) in DMLY

The Bulk Import feature in DMLY allows you to upload multiple contacts at once using a CSV file. This is ideal for migrating contacts, importing CRM data, adding event attendees, or uploading marketing leads.

Step 1: Download the Sample Template (Required)

Before preparing your CSV file:

1. Go to Contacts

2. Click Bulk Import

3. Click Download Sample File

This ensures:

• Your columns match DMLY’s required format

• Field names are correct

• Data is structured properly

• Import errors are avoided

Always use the provided sample template to prevent formatting issues.

Step 2: Fill in the Template Correctly

Open the downloaded file and enter your contact data.

Template Columns

The sample file includes:

• name

• countryCode

• phone

• tags

• stage

• notes

• customFields

Required Fields

At minimum, you must fill:

• name

• countryCode

• phone

Optional Fields

You can also include:

• tags

• stage

• notes

• customFields

Example Format

Tags Formatting

• Separate multiple tags using a vertical bar |

• Example:

  new lead|follow up|VIP

Custom Fields Formatting

Custom fields must follow this format:

FieldName:"value"|AnotherField:"value"

Example:

VIPStatus:"true"|PreferredBranch:"San Francisco"

Custom fields must already exist in DMLY before importing.

Step 3: Upload Your CSV

After filling the template:

1. Save the file as CSV

2. Return to Bulk Import

3. Drag and drop the file
   or
   Click to upload manually

Step 4: Review the Preview

DMLY will display a preview showing:

• Name

• Country Code

• Phone

• Tags

• Stage

• Notes

• Custom Fields

Carefully verify:

• Phone numbers are correct

• Country codes are accurate

• Tags are properly separated

• Custom fields are formatted correctly

Step 5: Click Import

Once confirmed:

• Click Import

• DMLY will process the contacts

Important Formatting Rules

Phone Numbers

• Do NOT include "+"

• Do NOT include spaces

• Do NOT include special characters

• Enter country code separately

Correct:

countryCode: 65
phone: 87654321

Duplicate Contacts

If a phone number already exists:

• The contact may be updated

• Tags may be appended

• Duplicate records are avoided

Contact Limit

Check your plan usage:

Contacts Usage: 21 / 10000

If your import exceeds your limit, upgrade or purchase add-ons.

Best Practices

• Always download and use the sample template

• Clean your list before importing

• Remove unsubscribed contacts

• Test with a small batch first

• Double-check formatting before uploading
